ABOUT US

ABOUT US

Looking for a meaningful and exciting semester experience in New York City?

The Living City Project engages New York City as a community, a studio and a classroom.

Our programs offer city-based experiences for rising college freshmen, semester-leave students, high school grads, high schoolers and adults, working with small groups of peers to creatively address urgent challenges and opportunities facing the city.

APPROACH

OUR APPROACH

The Living City Project:

  • provides meaningful and challenging group learning experiences in the New York City landscape. Our students grow as scholars, citizens, creators and human beings, finding meaning, passion and purpose, addressing the critical question: how do we change the city and world for the better?

  • employs a collaborative design studio model where students brainstorm, research, design, create and present original work to community partners, scholars, policymakers, artists, practitioners and experts.

  • creates a relevant, challenging and safe
environment for learning and exploring by using the built and natural environment as an outdoor classroom to engage current issues and seize opportunities to contribute to meaningful change.
